DEATH OF DR. N. G. ENO
Former Well Known Physician Passed Away
News reached here this week of the death of Dr. N. G. Eno, formerly of Keosauqua. Dr. Eno died at the soldiers home, near Los Angeles, Wednesday, Aug. 3. The news of the Doctor’s death came in a letter from Mrs. Wherry to Mrs. W. M. Walker. The Doctor had been a helpless invalid in the constant care of nurses for many months.
Dr. Eno located at Keosauqua in 1866. He possessed a fine physique and was known by sight to nearly every one in the county. He was born and raised in Lima, Ind., was a graduate of Michigan University, was an assistant surgeon with rank of captain during the war, and located here shortly after the war was over. He had a large practice here for many years. He removed to Los Angeles about three years ago.
Dr. Eno was the last of the physicians in Keosauqua when the writer came here in 1876 — Crain, Strickling, Stidger and Eno. He was by nature, education and practice a gentleman. He was a good conversationalist, kind hearted, and a true friend. The writer can say of Dr. Eno with Southern.
“Tis something to be willing to to commend;
But my best praise is, I was your friend.”Note: handwritten on article “1910”]
