McCune-At the residence of the family in Pierceville on Friday, Dec. 23, 1881. Minnie youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. McCune.
Minnie B. McCune was born July 26, 1862 and therefore was in her 26th year. To her friends her death was a sad surprise for though she has been in ill health for sometime, it was not though(sic) that the end was so near. Minnie was a most estimable young lady. In the family she was a patient, dutiful child and sister, and among her young associates she was a kind and true friend. Beloved by all, whilst to those near relatives who knew her best, and between whom there existed relations at once binding and tender, her death is a terrible blow. The sympathies of the many friends of the excellent family are with the broken home and may He who has promised to give the weary rest, comfort the afflicted father, mother, sister and relatives. The funeral took place from the family residence on Christmas Day last Sabbath, and was largely attended, many of the best citizens of the county being present. The music was especially comforting and was render(sic) by the Misses Johnson and Messrs. and Miss McCullough. near friends of the departed. The discourse was from PS 23:4 and by Rev. J. W. Wright, pastor of the M.E. church. To meet again in our Fathers house, how sweet it will be. She rests from pain and her spirit has gone to the blessed realm of light and life. When our friends go out from our sight, they go not down to dreamless dust, but beyond the shadows they live in the clime of the pure, the abode of the blessed. When the night of time shall end, the day of bliss shall dawn. Then will be given back to us the voices, the faces, the forms, which we have loved in the years that have gone.
