Mrs. Nancy Scott, at the residence of Mr. M. S. Callen, Bonaparte, Iowa, June 26, 1885 aged 87 years, 7 months, 15 days.
Deceased was the daughter of Craven and Mary Johnson and was born in Knoxville, Tenn., November 11, 1798. She was married to John Scott in 1834, and was the mother of one child which died in infancy. The last twenty years of her life she lived with her step daughter, Mrs. Callen. She was supposed to one the oldest persons in Bonaparte. Some weeks before her death she received serious injuries from a fall causing intense suffering. She was converted soon after the organization of the Mt. Zion Baptist church with which she united about 1844, becoming a consistant member of the Bonaparte Baptist church when the Mt. Zion church was divided and formed into the Bonaparte and Harrisburg churches. She remained a faithful member until death. Thus one by one the veterans fall, one by one the saints are gathered home. Funeral services by the pastor from Rev. 22:20. The remains were interred in the Houlsworth cemetery. C.L.C.(author?)
