Alexander S. McCune was born in Cumberland County Pennsylvania, Sept., 10th, 1815, died Wednesday, September 2, 1891 at his late home in Pierceville, Iowa. He removed to Iowa in the spring of 1857 , and was married to Mary A. Walker, Nov. 26th of the same year. There were born to them three daughters Ella, Etta and Minnie. Minnie died at home Dec. 23, 1887, Ella at St. Paul Sept. 24, 1884. Etta was married Feb. 17, 18*6, to Otto Greff and moved to Colorado but returned to Iowa the following summer and died August 10, 1887. Mr. McCune has been for several years a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity and belonged to Keosauqua Commandary of Knight Templar. He leaves surviving him his wife Mary A. McCune. Rev. Geo. Welsh preached the funeral sermon at his late residence when members of the Masonic fraternity of Keosauqua, Bonaparte, and Bentonsport took charge of the remains and conveyed them to the Bentonsport cemetery, and with their beautiful ceremony laid the mortal remains of their brother in their last earthly resting place.
