A VERY SUDDEN DEATH
JOHN TOMPKINS
John Tompkins died Monday, July 10, 1905, of heart trouble. He has been living on his farm in Farmington township, where he and his brother, Albert, kept bachelors quarters until five years ago when the brother died. The John White family has recently been living on his farm and he boarded with them.
On Monday he was found dead in his orchard, the cause of his death being heart trouble. He was fifty-two years old and leaves to mourn his loss five sisters, viz., Mrs. Martin Hornbaker, Mrs. Frank Perkins, Mrs. Robert Cummings, and Mrs. John House of Bonaparte and Mrs. Oberholzer of Missouri. Funeral services were held Wednesday.
Mr. Tompkins did not come to dinner but the White family supposed that he had gone for a visit with some neighbor. When he did not return at supper time they started a search for him and finally found him in the orchard lying face downnard [sic].
A coroner jury and physician were called from Farmington who found that the diseased had died of natural causes, probably heart failure.
