BAIRD - At the residence of her parents in Bonaparte, Iowa, on Tuesday evening at 11 o'clock, Miss Gertrude Baird, aged 27 years and 28 days.
Upon hearing of the sudden death our people were surprised and shocked for it was not generally known that the young lady was seriously ill, and in fact her case was not considered dangerous by either her folks or the attending physician.
Deceased was born in Bonaparte which place had always been her home. She was a kind and obedient daughter, and and affectionate sister. Her age to an afflicted father, her almost heart-borke [sic] mother, and one sister and one brother who keenly feel the pangs of bereavement, are left to mourn her loss. They have the sympathy of many friends.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. G. W. Barber of Pulaski, after which the remains were interred in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
[Note: Year not given but position in scrapbook suggests about 1887]
