Emma Lydolph 1874 - 1889

Emma Lydolph, was born Feb. 13th, 1874, of Milton, Iowa, and died near Bonaparte, Io., May 20th, 1889, being at the time of her death, 15 years, 3 months and 7 days old.

Emma had been a sufferer nearly all her life. During the last 3 months, she had been confined to her bed. Those who attended her during her last illness, testify that the degree of patience which she and was simply remarkable. Two weeks before her death, she seemed to realize that her career on earth was rapidly drawing to a close. As these convictions began to settle down upon her mind, the scenes of things perishable gradually faded from her view, while the bright rays of eternal morning began to shine through mists of mortality, assuring her that she was nearing the country from whence no traveler returneth. For the past seven years, Emma had realized that there is a limit to bodily a afflictions and then these with mortality must relinquish their claims at the river's edge. During these years she had given numerous evidences of her confidence in God. From her christian associates and friends, she eagerly learn the primary lessons of trust and faith, and as she neared the Jordan of Death, the prospect of the immortality grew brighter. When the last stage of life had yielded to the force of disease, she gave evidence that she was in possession of that peace which the world knows not of. Her remains were deposited in the White cemetery, in the presence of a large company of friends and neighbors. The funeral sermon was preached by in the undersigned.
