William Henry Harr was born March 23, 1814, near Hamilton, Butler county, Ohio, and died at his residence in Harrisburg township, Nov. 27, 1896 at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Deceased was married to Martha E. McGreevy, November 30, 1851. He removed to Van Buren County, Iowa, March 10, 1855, settling near Utica, and later moved upon the 500 acre farm, where he resided until his death.

Mr. Harr joined the Baptist church at Bonaparte in May, 1857, and remained a faithful and consistent member until his departure for the home of his heavenly father.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss, a wife, one daughter, Mrs. J. L. Brown, one brother, three sisters, besides numerous other relatives and friends.

Deceased was an invalid for several years, and during all that time was never heard to utter a complaint of any kind, being always satisfied with whatever was done for his comfort and welfare, and a number of times he signified his willingness and thorough preparation for the home beyond.

Several months before his death he selected the text for his funeral service from 2nd Corinthians, 5th Chapter and 1st verse, and also the following hymns: "On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand" and "Rock of Ages." The Masonic order, of which deceased was an honored member, took charge of the remains and deposited them in their last resting place in the White cemetery, according to the rites of that order.

Thus passed away one of the most honorable, devoted and highly respected men it has been my lot to know. H.W.
