Mrs. Lucy Morrison Blackburn, daughter of Emmett F. and Susie Hollen Morrison, was born November 13, 1898, in Van Buren County and departed this life Tuesday, Sept 10, 1974, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 75.
On February 21, 1918, she was married to Clifford Blackburn at Mt. Sterling. Most of their married life was spent in the Selma community. He passed away in 1954. A son, Merl and several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. She was employed as a cook at the Selma school for three years and for a number of years assisted her son in the operation of the Blackburn Service Station in Selma.
On January 5, 1969 she married Hugh Blackburn of Keosauqua, and they have resided in the Center Chapel community, south of Keosauqua. Remaining to cherish her memory are her widower, her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Doris Blackburn and her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Paul Lambert, all of Selma, a stepson and step daughter-in-law, Robert and Helen Blackburn of Keosauqua, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Minnie Dodds of Clinton, other relatives and many friends.
Lucy was a member of the Selma United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and as a good neighbor and friend to all with whom she came in contact.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept 12, 1974, at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Donald Strauch officiating. Interment was in the Center Chapel Cemetery, near Keosauqua.
