Roy Lester Morrison, former station agent for the
C.B & O. railroad at Colusa, Ill, and onetime restaurant operator at Carthage, Ill, died Aug 5, in Levering hospital Hannibal, Mo. For the past few years Morrison and his wife had been living at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. E. P. Hansen at Frankfort, Mo. Morrison was the son of Emmett and Susan Hollen Morrison, and was born Feb 4, 1883, near Pittsburg, Iowa. He went to work for the Rock Island railroad at the age of 16, later switching to the C.B. and Q. In 1916 he went to Colusa. He was compelled to retire from the railroad on account of ill health at the age of 42. For eight years he operated the Cozy Cupboard, a restaurant on the campus of Carthage College. He later owned and operated The Diner, a cafe on the campus of Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery at Kirksville, Mo.
Morrison was married to Valentine Alton at Bonaparte, Iowa, on March 9, 1904. She survives, as do the daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Hansen, and two sons, Drs. Carl and Phil Morrison, both of St. Cloud, Minn.
Also surviving are three brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren. Last rites were held Tuesday. A service was conducted at the Presbyterian church of Frankford at 9:30 a.m.and a second service took place at the Evangelical United Brethern church of Colusa at 2:30 P.M. The Rev. Glen Leatheres officiated and burial was in Harris cemetery.
