Jennie S. Humphreys, daughter of Harry and Marie Humphreys, was born Dec 28, 1855, and died Jan. 17, 1935 at the age of 79 years and 20 days. Her early home was in Bonaparte. She was united in marriage with David J. Dodds on Sept. 18, 1883. Who preceded her in death Nov 30, 1903. To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. Sibyl Farr of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and two sons, Frank of Lake Andes, S. Dakota, and J. Edward of Mt. Pleasant.
There are also two step-daughters, Jennie May Sarber of Long Beach, Calif. and Rose J. Huston of Newman Grove, Neb, nine grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Services were held at Mt. Pleasant at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan 19, for the friends there, and at the Baptist church in Bonaparte at 2 p.m. on the same day, the Rev. Pike of Mt. Pleasant officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte cemetery. Her health had been failing for several years and her condition had been serious since last November. The Dodds family lived for several years on the farm in Harrisburg township now occupied by the T. M. Phelps family moving from there to Mt. Pleasant.
