The funeral party which accompanied the remains of Mrs. Martha Fegtly from California, arrived in Bentonsport last Monday morning. The parties were Mrs. Kate E. Tucker and son Jamie, of Pasadena, California, and her brothers Joseph and John Fegtly, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. They were met at Bentonsport by their bereaved sisters, Mrs. J.M. Randall, of Birmingham, and Mrs. J.C. Bryant, of Akron, Iowa. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church, Rev. R. Weese ably officiating. The choir composed of Misses Kittie Moore and Edna Keck, R.R. Jacobs and Charles Doan sang the selections, "Beyond the smiling and the weeping", "Abide with me", "It is well with my soul." Many friends from the town and vicinity assembled to pay respects to the memory of this good "Mother in Israel" whose exemplary life and character endeared her to a wide circle of acquaintances. J.A. Keck and wife, I.B. Day and wife of near Utica, Ozo Jewett, Frank and Rob Ely, and others from the deceased's old home were present. After the services closed at the church, the body was borne to the Bentonsport cemetery and laid to rest beside her husband who died in 1861.
