James Cephas McCRARY died at Vernon 12/19/1907. Leaves wife and 1 sister, 1 brother, the only near relatives. Deceased son of James McCrary early pioneer of Van Buren Co., and was born on farm now in Henry Twp. 11/25/1841. All of the brothers and sister born in Van Buren Co., except brother George W. McCrary who was born in Indiana. George rose to prominence in councils of Nation secceeding James F. WILSON as member of Congress - Member Pres. HAY's Cabinet as Secretary of War - also judge of U. S. Circuit Court. Only Mrs. Nancy COOLEY and Miner McCrary of Farmington remain alive in family - James C. McCrary enlisted in 1861 in RReg. that later became 7th Missouri cavalry. Mustered out fall 1864. Married March 30, 1870 Miss Malcinna E. GEORGE who was loved wife until death separated them. Three daughters born: Bertha May, Mary M. and Maud Ethel all preceded the father in death.
