John Emmett Boyer, 72, 712 N. Harrison Ave., died Wednesday at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado.
He was born Feb. 28, 1919, to Lawrence E. and Selma May Clemens Boyer in Keosauqua, Iowa.
he married Madelyn L. Trout on June 5, 1940, in Ottumwa, Iowa.
He attended schools in Iowa and was in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class in Company D. of the 324th Infantry Regiment. He served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater campaigns from June 15, 1944, to Jan. 30, 1946.
Boyer was a Ford mechanic in Ottumwa, Iowa, until 1970, when the couple moved to Evans. He retired in 1981 and the couple moved to Loveland in 1984, where they have lived since.
He was a member of the Orchards Baptist Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Madelyn L. Boyer; two sons, Richard Boyer and wife Laurene of Evans and Ronald Boyer and Claudia of Connell, Wash.; two brothers, Wayne Boyer and wife Margaret of Keosauqua, IA and Harold Boyer of Silvis, Ill; five sisters, Dorothy Wood of Keosauqua, IA, Irene Stagers and husband Warren of Fairfield, IA, Marilyn Nelson and husband Archie of Albia, IA and Esther Lancaster and husband Ray of Solon, IA; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Boyer and Connie Boyer, both of Evans, Melissa Vatow of Pasco, Wash. and Mark Boyer and Matt Boyer of Connell, Wash.
An infant brother, Leo Boyer, preceded him in death.
Services were held on Monday, preceded him in death.
Services were held on Monday, at 2 p.m. at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Graves of Orchards Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in Loveland Burial Park.
