Hal Junkins

Hal D. Junkins, 83, of Tempe, Arizona, died Jan. 16, 1992, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 25, 1908, in Deadwood, S.D., to Oliver Ray and Georgia Umphreys Junkins.

He owned and operated Pleasant Grove General Store from 1947 to 1959. He moved to Phoenix in 1959 where he operated an ice cream business until his retirement. He served with Army Air Corps in World War II and was a member of the National Guard in Fairfield and Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Joanne McIntosh of Silver Spring, Maryland; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Joanne was the wife of a former deceased Keosauquan, Jene McIntosh.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Harper; and a brother, George Junkins.

The service was held Tuesday, January 21, 1992 at 1 p.m. at Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Rev. W.O. Talley officiating. Burial was in Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Reece Funeral Home, Ottumwa, was in charge of arrangements.
