Cora B. Coltrane, 84, Independence, Mo. a former teacher, died June 21, 1992, at Baptist Medical Center. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1992 at the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, burial in Mount Washington Cemetery.
Mrs. Coltrane taught at Harry S. Truman Elementary School for 13 years before she retired. She earlier taught in Fort Madison, Iowa, then was a cashier and office manager for Sears Roebuck and Co., Gorman's Furniture and Monsanto Co. in this area and an auditor for the Dixon Hotel. She was a member of the church.
She received a bachelor's degree in education from the Iowa State Teachers College in 1929 and was a member of Delta Kappa Pi at the college. She was born in Davenport, Iowa and lived in Mason City, Iowa before moving to the Independence area 52 years ago.
Survivors include her husband, B. Paul Coltrane of the home; two daughters, Shirley Allison, Urbana, Mo., and Thelda Berry, Des Moines, Iowa; a sister Lucille Bitterman, Independence, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband graduated from Stockport High School. They were here for the Alumni Banquet a week before she died.
