A GOOD CITIZEN IS CALLED
Stephen G.Davis, aged 72 years died at his home near Upton,Ia., Dec 6, 1933, at 7:30 a.m., after several weeks illness. He was born in Scotland county,Mo., and lived there all his life.Mr. Davis is survived by his devoted wife, four daughters and one son, viz: Mrs. Jessie Fritz of Fondu Lac,Wis.; Mrs. Lantz Piper of Mt. Sterling,Ia.; Mrs. Phil Morris, Mrs. Arthur Judd, and Leonard Davis of near Upton. Also several grandchildren, two brothers, Marion and Loran Davis, one sister, Mrs. Jennie Hervey of near Mt. Sterling,Ia.; many other relatives and a very wide circle of friends.
Funeral was held Thursday from the home at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. LLoyd Tennant of Bloomfield,Ia. Interment was in Mt.Sterling cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Wes Kerr, Frank Davis ,Dick Hamlett, Wm. Veshlade, Roy Stockdale and Oliver Kerr.
Deseased was a cousin of Mrs. J. Talbott of this city and a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen G. Weekly, prosperous pioneer settlers of northeast Clark county.
