Magdalena VAN BUREN (1821-1905 or 1906)

Magdalena VAN BUREN born July 20, 1821, died March 2, 1905 or 1906, aged 84 years 7 months -- days. Born Canton Berne, Switzerland, to U.S. with parents and young brother in 1834 at age 13 to New York City. Then to Utice, NY and 2 years later to farm Red River near Shreveport, Louisiana. Three years later and after death of father, they moved to St. Louis, MO where at age 22 married to Henry Augusts REHKOPT Sep 6, 1843. After living 3 years at St. Louis went to Galveston, TX for 3 years then back to St. Louis for 3 years thence to Bentonsport, Van Buren Co., Iowa where husband and children died - 3 sons and 5 daughters were born, of whom 2 daughters, Mrs. W. A. WILLIS of Iowa City and Mrs. J. F. SNEATHEN of Baraboo, Wisc. and one son, the writer Remain to mourn the loss of their mother. Brother Henry died at St. Louis, Brother Augustus killed at Praire Grove, Arkansas in Civil War. Father and sister, Emma and Mary died in Bentonsport and sister, Louise in Warren Co., near Des Moines. She was second child. Buried in Old Cemetery at Bentonsport, March 6.
