Dillon Finney

Dillon Finney, 66, of Eldon died Sept. 8, 1991, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born Sept. 21, 1924 in Wapello County to Carl and Nelle Davis Finney. He married Dorothy Bowers on July 15, 1945 in Eldon.

He was reared and educated in Eldon. He previously had been employed by John Deere Ottumwa Works and later was employed by Meadow Gold Dairy in Ottumwa for 15 years. He was a Navy World War II veteran and a member of the Local 147 Teamsters Union in Ottumwa.

He is survived by three sons, Wilson of Ottumwa, Bob of Ontario, California, and Greg of Eldon; two daughters, Betty Peterson of Baxter and Mary Megrath of Milton; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Harley of Talent, Oregon, and three sisters, Dorothy Shelley of Des Moines and Alice Swinscoe and Frieda Major of Eldon.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

The service was held a 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Eldon Rescue Unit.
