Donald "Pete" Bowman, 55, of Selma died January 26, 1990, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born January 20, 1935, in Knoxville to James and Florence Bowman.
He grew up in Ottumwa, spending most of his life in the Eldon area. He worked for Iowa Malleable Company in Fairfield for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He was a member of Ottumwa American Legion and Glass, Molder, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union.
He is survived by a daughter, Leslie Bowman-Heemsbergen of Ottumwa; two brothers, Ronald of Fiairfield and Robert of Sedona, Ariz.; three sisters, Inez Schippers of Ottumwa, Bonnie Lander of Des Moines and Marge Drilleau of Deersfield Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather and two brothers, James and Tom.
The service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 1990 at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma.
A memorial has been established to the Douds First Responders.
