John P. Weiss

John P. Weiss, 73, of Route 2, Donnellson, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1989, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born Dec. 2, 1915, at rural West Point, he was the son of John and Katherine Kroll Weiss. He married Florence Timpe Feb. 16, 1939, at Franklin.

He lived most of his life on a farm near Franklin. He was a farmer and worked at the Fruehoff Corporation, before retiring. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Franklin.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Delores Harnisch, Buffalo Grove, Ill., Gladys Enslow, Fort Collins, Colo., and Christine Joyner, Cedar Rapids; one son, Phil Weiss, Shawnee, Kan.; four sisters, Mary Rohdy, Farmington, Susanna Gallagher and Arva Mohr, both of Donnellson, and Eileen Kudobe, Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Donnellson.

The service for Mr. Weiss will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Franklin, with the Rev. J.W. Stoerker officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the St. Peter's United Church of Christ repair fund.
