Noel O. Messer

Noel O. Messer, 76, Fairfield, died 2:22 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 1989, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

He was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Round Prairie Township, Jefferson County, the son of Josy and Alice Collins Messer. He married Anna Mae Black.

He was a farmer and worked as a painter for the former Dexter Co., Fairfield, 30 yeas, retiring in 1977.

Surviving are his wife; five sons, LaVerne, David, John, Larry and James; three daughters, Mary Dosher, Rome, Bonnie Haynes and Carol Lewis; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Ralph Messer, Mt. Pleasant, and Max Messer, Farmington; and one sister Ruby Edith, Olds.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 14 at the Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Barney Lollar officiating. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery, north of Rome.

Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Kidney Foundation.
