Florence E. Ewing, daughter of Frank and Rosamond Nichols Grade, was born September 11, 1906 at Farson, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, July 24, 1988 at her home in Keosauqua at the age of 81.
She married Martin Ewing, August 20, 1927 in Ottumwa. They lived in rural Van Buren County, in Kansas and Missouri, and returned to Keosauqua in 1980. Mr. Ewing passed away in 1983. An infant daughter and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters: Florence Hervey, Keosauqua; Ruth Clark, Festus, Mo.; and Reva McRoy, Bloomfield, Mo.; and three sons, William Ewing, Garden City, Kansas; Lee Ewin, Fairfield; and Wayne Grade, Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ada Baker, El Cajon, Calif. and Pearl Moss, Ottumwa, a brother, Frank Grade, Talleson, Arizona, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mrs. Ewing attended the Keosauqua United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 27, 1988 at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Morrison officiating. Interment was in the Forbes Cemetery north of Keosauqua.
Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial to the Forbes Cemetery has been established.
