H. Fletcher rites Tuesday

OTTUMWA - Herman J. Fletcher Sr., 70, Ottumwa, died at 2:57 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ottumwa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ottumwa, with the Rev. Paul C. Hart officiating. Burial, with military rites by O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa.

Fletcher was born Oct. 1, 1916 in Ottumwa, the son of Ora and Nana Longcor Fletcher. A lifetime Wapello County resident, he was employed by John Morrell and Company for 35 years, retiring in 1973. He had been a bus driver for Cardinal Schools for 13 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and an Army veteran of World War II. He married Lucille M. Hobbs Dec. 13, 1934 in Bloomfield. She died Dec. 4, 1986.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary House, Rose Alexander, both of Ottumwa; Lela Heisel, Stockport; three sons, Ora, Fairfield; Herman Jr., Bowman, N.D.; John, Eldon; 31 grandchildren; a brother, Emery, San Diego, Calif., and a sister, Loretta Norwood, San Bernardino, Calif.
