Dale Murphy, 85 of Pulaski [Ia] died March 9, 1993, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. He was born Aug. 1, 1907 in Keosauqua to Charlie and Carrie C. Cox Murphy. He married Edith Carlson on Dec. 25, 1931 in Memphis, MO. She died March 12, 1968. He Married Luzon Burns Murphy Feb. 14, 1969 in Pulaski. [He graduated from Milton High School.]
A farmer, he lived in Davis and Van Buren Counties and was a member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Pulaski City Council and Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Agency of Aging in Bloomfield, he received the Davis County Outstanding Citizen Award in 1981. He was caretaker for the Pulaski Cemetery for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Darlene Augspurger of rural Bloomfield and Diane Jessen of Roeland Park, Kan.; a stepson, Randy Murphy of Oskaloosa; three stepdaughters, Sherry Pierce of Des Moines, Karen Willcoxson of Temecula, CA, and July Meltzer of Brookfield, IL; three grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Leo of Keokuk; and a sister, Clarissia Carlson of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles; and two brothers, Raymond and Weldon.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, the Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Pallbears will be Laverne Taylor, Gary Bailey, Elmer Wilks, Jerry Miller, Jack Halterman and Albert Middleton. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorials to the Pualski United Methodist Church or the Davis County EMS/First Responders.
