Arthur Fry dies in Illinois

KEOSAUQUA - Arthur E. Fry, 85, of Monmouth, Ill., died Aug. 19 at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Ill.

He was born April 11, 1901 in Green County, Ill., the son of Morris and Lodema Belle Collins Fry. On April 23, 1921 he married Edith Stark. She died in 1970. He married Ina Carruthers on Oct. 20, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, who resides in LaMoine Christian Nursing Home in Roseville, Ill.; four daughters: Clara Singleton, Margaret Howell, Genevieve Taylor and Joyce Stripe; one son, Wilbur "Bud" Fry, Jr., of Monmouth; stepchildren Arlene Shannan, Donald Carruthers and Evelyn McCracken of Keosauqua, Frances Kollar of Monmouth, Freda Pundt of Donnellson, Jim Carruthers of Brighton, Dorothea Russell of Borger, Texas, Howard Carruthers of Tucson, Texas, Ariz.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, three sons and two sisters. He was employed for 30 years at the O.K. Tire Co. and had been retired for 20 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth. Memorials have been established to the LaMoine Christian Nursing Home in Roseville, Ill. and to his church.
