Florence Chloe Carlson, 92 of Memphis, MO died at 7:10 a.m. in the emergency room at Scotland County Memorial Hospital [Memphis, MO].

She was born to Charles and Mary Fischer Black on April 20, 1901 near Milton, IA. She married Hilmer V. Carlson on Dec. 25, 1924 near Milton. She and her husband farmed their entire life up to retirement. In 1974 they moved to Memphis, MO and she lived there five years after he husband's death Oct. 29, 1988. For the past three weeks she had been living at the Aldridge Adult Care Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Hazel Marie Welsh of Cordova, IL., and Joann Rood of Memphis; one son, Charles Dean Carlson of Council Bluffs, one brother, Robert Black of Sierra Vista, AZ; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son-in-law, Dale Rood; two sisters, Janet Darlene and Helen Esther; two brothers, Ross and Edgar; and one grandson, David Lynn Rood. Funeral Services were held Sept. 16, 1993 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO., with Robert Brunk Officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, IA.

Florence's husband, Hilmer is my uncle.
