Maurice E. Steffenmeier

WEST POINT - Maurice E. Steffensmeier, 77, rural St. Paul, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at his home. Death terminated a lengthy illness.

Mr. Steffensmeier was born April 16, 1909, at St. Paul and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus of West Point, St. James Catholic church of St. Paul, and was a longtime trustee of the church.

On Feb. 12, 1935, at St. Paul, he married Regina Moeller, who survives.

Also surviving are eight sons, Dale of Keokuk, Darrell of State College, Pa., Tom of New London, Jerry of Iowa City, and Dan, Larry, Howard and Joe, all of St. Paul; eight daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Sylvia) Witting, Mrs. Melvin (Maureen) Moeller, Mrs. David (Linda) Burne and Mrs. Paul (Judy) Scott, all of West Point, Mrs. Don (Jean) Wiladsen, Bettendorf, Mrs. Frank (Paulette) Schwartz, Bessemer, Mich., Mrs. John (Bonnie) Vannie, Evergreen, Colo., and Mari Steffensmeier, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a brother, Robert Steffensmeier, New Port Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Herb (Irene) Menke, Fort Madison, and Mrs. Bernard (Colette) Brune, St. Paul; 41 grandchildren.

A memorial is being established with Marquette Schools Foundation. Contributions may be made at the Link Funeral Home.
