SIGOURNEY - J. Lyle Holt, 82, of Sigourney died May 23, 1986, at Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney.
He was born may 16, 1904, in Grove township, Davis County to Perry and Ella Harl Holt. He was a Bloomfield High School graduate, and attended the University of Iowa. He married Virginia Pfaff on Oct. 20, 1934, in Sigourney, and she survives. He taught school two years in Douds and worked for the Iowa Highway Commission for more than 10 years. He later owned and operated Holt Clothing Co. in Sigourney Masonic Lodge and the Sigourney Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jerry of Sigourney and John of Tooele, Utah; one daughter, Joan Liebus of Oskaloosa; 13 grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Prevo of Ocala, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney, the Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating.
Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney.
A memorial has been established.
