FAIRFIELD - Donald Ray Fitzwater, 47, of Fairfield died at 3:50 a.m. April 18, 1986, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was born Nov. 26, 1938, in Salina to Otto and Vera Downing Fitzwater. He married Sharon Lee on Oct. 26, 1963, in Fairfield. He had been a self-employed welder and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2271 in Fairfield.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Doneta Moore of Stockport, Paula Fitzwater of Los Altos, Calif., and Jody Fitzwater at home; his parents; four brothers, Dale of Fort Worth, Texas, Keith of Higdon, Ark., Eugene "shorty" of Birmingham and Larry of Ottumwa; and three sisters, Louise McFarland of Orlando, Fla., Kay Hoyle of Washington and Doreen Richardson of Milan, Mo.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, the Revl James Cecil officiating.

Friends may call after noon today to sign the register. The body will be cremated with burial later in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the family or the American Lung Association.
