Harve Edlen

Harve W. Edlen, 88, of Luray, Mo., died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Keokuk Area Hospital.

He was born Feb. 28, 1898 in Clark County, Mo., the son of Newton L. and Lula Daughters Edlen. He married Effie Horton on July 9, 1918 at Memphis.

He had farmed north of Kahoka for several years and was co-owner of Edlen Implement Co. in Kahoka from 1947-68. He had lived in Luray for 40 years and was a member of the Peaksville Christian Church and the Modern Woodsman Lodge 60 years.

Survivors include his wife; daughters Eva Edlen of North Pekin, Ill., Mrs. James (Elizabeth) McGuinness of Kahoka, Mrs. Earl (Wilma) Pratt of Fairfield, Iowa, Mrs. Raymond (Ilda "Chub) Frazier of Arnold, Mo. and Mrs. Larry (Wanetta) Saunders of Stockport, Iowa; son Lewis of Kahoka; sister Stella Fishback of Carthage, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shaffer and Sons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Carl Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday with the family meeting friends from 7-9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Clark County Nursing Home for recreation.
