Hazel Madden

MT. STERLING - Hazel Belle Madden, 92, of Mt. Sterling died April 8, 1986, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1893 near Farmington to John and Mary Warren French. She was a member of the former Mt. Sterling Christian Church, attended Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church, and was a member of United Methodist Women. She married Floyd Madden on Aug. 23, 1913, at her parents' home. They operated Madden's General Store in Mt. Sterling for many years. He died in 1951.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at M. Sterling United Methodist Church, the Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Burial will be in Harness Cemetery of Mt. Sterling. The family will be at Pedrick Funeral Home of Keosauqua from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A memorial has been established to Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church.
