Karl Simmons rites Thursday

Karl K. Simmons, 80, 203 South D, died at 3:22 p.m. Monday at Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Goins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to First Christian Church.

Simmons was born Feb. 11, 1906 in Birmingham, the son of Frank N. and Anna Reed Simmons. He was reared and educated in Fairfield, where on Jun 12, 1932 he married Letha Roberts. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Kenneth, Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Florence Fitch, West Covina, Calif., Mildred Fitch, Ottumwa, Joan Lee, Fairfield; two brothers, Dale, Fairfield, and Frank Jr., Gary, Ind. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Simmons was a member of First Christian Church and Modern Woodmen of America. He had farmed eight miles north of Fairfield for 42 years, retiring five years ago and moving to Fairfield for health reasons.
