Harold E. Rider, 80, of Farmington died Saturday, April 5, 1986 at 8:40 p.m. at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
He was born November 5, 1905 in Farmington. His father was Glenn F. Rider and his mother Mabel C. Wollenweber. He married Betty Shoemaker, June 5, 1945 in Keosauqua.
He was a longtime resident of Farmington and was a former co-owner - operator of the Rider Nurseries in Farmington. He was a graduate of Des Moines University with an electrical engineering degree.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; one son, William Rider of Farmington; one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Mary) Fox of Farmington; one brother, Forrest Rider of Farmington, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services were held Tuesday, April 8, 1986 at 10 a.m. at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington with Pastor Ron Haas officiating. Interment was in Greenglade Cemetery. Memorials to the Farmington EMT Unit may be left at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington.
