Grace Lucas dies at 52

Grace E. Lucas, 52, 502 W. Depot, died suddenly at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Free Methodist Church.

Mrs. Lucas was born May 25, 1933 in Libertyville, the daughter of Joseph and Candace Barnes Martin. She married Ray E. Lucas April 22, 1950, in Keosauqua. She was homemaker and with her husband, had owned and operated the Fairfield Hotel for 15 years. She was a member of Free Methodist Church and Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband; three sons and one daughter, David, Darrell, Elaine and Robert Lucas, all of Fairfield; a stepson, John Hemenway, Fairfield; two grandchildren; her stepmother Berneice Martin of Madison, Wis.; a brother, William Martin of Sigourney; a sister, Bonnie Graham of Hedrick; two half-brothers, Harold Martin of Augusta, Kan., Joe Martin of Des Moines; two stepbrothers, Jerry Maxwell of Connecticut, Steven Hisel of Fairfield, and three stepsisters, Ilene Hoage of Fairfield, Thelma Hill Madison, Wis., and Ruby Droz of Mt. Pleasant.

Her parents preceded her in death.
