Alice R. Johnson

Alice R. Johnson, 78, of Stockport passed away at Klein Care Facility in Burlington at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 1985. She was born April 11, 1906 to Anton and Zella Voorman Munson at Toland, Wisc., a Norwegian community. She was one of five daughters.

Her marriage to Harold H. Johnson took place in Kansas where they made their home until 1931, when they moved to Stockport and became engaged in farming until retirement.

Remaining are her daughters, Gloria Reed of Big Timber, Montana and Marilyn Klise and her husband Bud of Stockport. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Linda Reed Musick, Silver Bow, Montana; Penny Klise DePenning, Stockport, Kristy Klise, Clarendon Hills, Ill., Hoss Reed, St. Peters, Mo.; and Annie Reed, Columbia, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Leslie Bryant, Jay DePenning, Fahad Reed Ketabforoush, and Vanessa Reed, as well as two sisters, Thelma Zimmerman, McCook, Neb., and Gladys Tork, Topeka, Kan., other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, a seven year old son, Harry, and two sisters.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Stockport Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, the Stockport L.L.G. Club and Van Buren Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a very creative homemaker, having painted numerous scenic pictures for her family and was an avid reader and supporter of the local library. For the past two years she has had declining health and the past six months resided at the Klein Care Facility.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 12, 1985 at 3 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Duane Olsen and Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport. Memorials were established for the American Cancer Society and the Stockport Public Library.
