Dana H. Merrick

STOCKPORT - Dana H. Merrick, 73, long-time Stockport mayor, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at his home in Stockport.

He was born Oct. 11, 1911, at Peoria, Ill., to Alonzo and Mary Pulsipher Merrick. He was reared and educated in Peoria and was a graduate of Bradley University.

Mr. Merrick lived in Stockport for more than 50 years and for many years was mayor of Stockport.

He worked as a unit maintenance foreman for Van Buren County for 33 years and was a Vigortone feed dealer for 11 years. He married Genevieve Humphrey on July 31, 1937, at Bowling Green, Mo.

He was a member of Stockport Methodist Church.

Surviving: His wife; a son, Harry, Cedar Rapids; three granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday, Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, the Rev. Robert Butt. Cremation will follow the funeral service and burial of the ashes will be at the Spencer Cemetery near Stockport. A memorial has been established for the Salvation Army.
