Robbie Taylor

Robbie Ann Burkett Taylor died Nov. 8, 1985 at Burlington Medical Center at the age of 88. She was born Jan. 20, 1897 to Maude Estelle Colvin and Francis Marion Burkett. She had been a resident of Burlington Care Center since last December.

Robbie married Elmer Wallace Taylor Sept. 11, 1918 in a double wedding ceremony with Mr. Taylor's sister Helena and Tim Sturgeon at the home of Rev. E.C. Newton, Kahoka, Mo. The couple had five children: Esther A. Thommen, Mt. Sterling, Edith Carol Taylor who died at birth, V. Jean Dabney, Burlington, Estel (Tiny) M., deceased and Eston J., Burlington.

Mr. Taylor died July 26, 1975.

She was a member of Kahoka Baptist Church, Kahoka, Mo., National Senior Citizens, Burlington and had been attending the First Baptist Church, Burlington.

Mrs. Taylor had four brothers and one sister, Harvey Glenn Burkett, deceased; Roy Burkett, deceased; Edgar Burkett, deceased, Francis Burkett, Keokuk and Edna Hiatt, Memphis, Mo. Mrs. Taylor leaves 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor moved to a farm south of Mt. Sterling in 1931, farming there until 1968 when their farm home burned and they retired to Kahoka. After Mr. Taylor's death in 1975 and the son in 1976, she moved to Burlington.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. at Shoffer & Sons Memorial Chapel, Kahoka, Mo. with burial at Kahoka Cemetery. Rev. Jim Simon, First Baptist Church, Burlington officiated.
