CRAIG SMUTZ

Craig Smutz, 93, of Salem, formerly of the Bonaparte-Hillsboro community died Monday, April 22, 1985 at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born March 10, 1892, near Hillsboro, Iowa, the son of John and Cora McCracken Smutz.

He was married January 1, 1914 at Hillsboro to Hazel Wright. He was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church and a retired farmer north of Bonaparte.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Earl of Mt. Pleasant, Ralph of Mt. Shasta, California, two grandsons and four great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Merle Smith of Salem and a brother, Harley Smith of Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Newman officiating. Interment will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

The Beatty Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to the Iowa Kidney Foundation.
