MARVIN H. TOBIAS

Marvin H. Tobias, 51, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma died at 6:24 a.m. Monday, October 7, 1985 in the Oklahoma Memorial Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after several months illness.

Tobias was born July 8, 1934 at Muscatine, Iowa. He grew up and received his education in Hillsboro, Iowa. He served in the United States Air Force from October, 1953 to September, 1957. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville, Missouri in August, 1961 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He married Nancy Yardley at Pollock, Missouri on October 30, 1959. Following his graduation, the family made their home in Kansas City where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. They came to Bartlesville in 1963 for several years, later making their home in Egypt, and then in Fresno, California, returning to Bartlesville in August, 1974. He was an accountant in the Exploration and Production group of Phillips Petroleum Co.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Sue Tobias of the home; three daughters, Tana Lynn, Teresa Marie and Stacy Aleese of the home; her mother and father Verna and Keith Helterbran of Oxford, Iowa; step-mother Vernadine Tobias of Muscatine, Iowa; one sister, Doreen Loesch of Evansville, Indiana; two half-brothers, Arron Keith Helterbran of Oxford, Iowa, and William Tobias of Letts, Iowa; one step-brother, Richard Schmelzer and one step-sister, Mrs. Shirley Onnen.

He was preceded in death by a step-brother, Raymond Schmelzer, killed in the Korean War and his father, George Glenn Tobias.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 1985 in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ed Saucier officiating. A memorial has been established to the Hospital Hospitality House, 715 N.E. 13th Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
