LEWIS VAN WINKLE

Mr. Lewis Van Winkle, 78, Mt. Pleasant, died at home Friday, June 14, 1985.

He was born June 20, 1906, at Salem, to Dr. Clyde O. and Della Bell Van Winkle. He married Hazel M. Heise, June 25, 1944, at the Big Mound community.

He was a graduate of Salem High School. He was a farmer, and owned Van's Electric Co. He retired from IAAP and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1980.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving: His wife; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Cheryl) D. Bell, Burlington; two sons, Richard L., Mt. Pleasant, and Alan d., rural Hillsboro; one brother, Aulden, rural Hillsboro; one sister, Mrs. J.L. (Tessie) Chandler, Salem; four grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 17, 1985 at the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Gideons International or Forest Lake Baptist Camp, Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant was in charge of arrangements.
