Lester Thomas

MT. PLEASANT Lester Ray Thomas, 88, Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Maple Leaf Health Care Center.

He was born Aug. 31, 1896, in Van Buren County to Jesse and Delta Godawn Thomas. He married Alice Matthews Feb. 23, 1927, at Rock Island.

He was a retired carpenter and substitute mail carrier.

Surviving: His wife; two daughters Mrs. Vivian Wilder, New London, and Mrs. William (Marcella) Pauley, Park Rapids, Minn.; three sons, Jack Thomas, New London, Gene Thomas, New London, Gene Thomas, Loveland, Colo., and Roscoe Thomas, Milo; two brothers, Vern Thomas, Delta, Colo., and Paul Thomas, Mt. Pleasant; five sisters, Mrs. Mildred Lake, Fairfield, Mrs. Mae Rickey, Reno, Nev., Mrs. Mabel Olds, Davenport, Mrs. Blanche Howae, Winfield, and Mrs. Cleo Lish, Wapello, 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, the Revs. Dennis Thomas and Gary Crowl; Oakland Mills Cemetery.
