ERNEST FRENCH

Ernest E. French, 86, of rural route 2, Farmington, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 1985 at Keokuk Area Hospital.

He was born January 6, 1898 in Clark County, Missouri the son of Thomas and Margaret Harper French. He married Myrtle McPherson on September 15, 1920 in Keokuk.

He was a member of the Athens United Methodist Church and served as director of the Athens Park Development Association. He served on various board of directors in Clark County and was the school board director and Sunday School Superintendent.

Survivors include his wife; son Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Mrs. Walter (Mary) McFarland of Kodiak, Alaska; sister, Ethel Collins of Donnellson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers, five sisters, one grandson and one granddaughter.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 29, in the Anson Community Church with the Revs. Mike Shea and James Brice officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Shaffer and sons Funeral Home in Kahoka was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Athens United Methodist Church and the Anson Community Church.
