MAXINE J. HOHL

KEOSAUQUA - Mrs. Maxine J. Hohl, 65, Keosauqua, died of cancer at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born Oct. 11, 1919, at Donnellson, to Lloyd and Irene Stuard Dawson. She graduated from Donnellson High School and Ft. Madison Business College.

She married Lester H. Hohl on April 8, 1939, at Davenport. They lived at Rock Island, Ill., Milwaukee, Wis., and farmed in Lee County. Then, in 1949 they moved to Keosauqua where they and Mrs. Carl Hohl operated Hohl and Hohl Hardware & Implement and later a fertilizer business.

The past 12 years, they have lived in Rotonda West, Fla., as well as Keosauqua. She was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, a dual member of Faith Lutheran Church, Rotonda West, and Lynds chapter OE, Keosauqua, and White Shrine. She was a past president of the Keosauqua BPW and for many years was mother advisor of the Keosauqua Rainbow Assembly. She also had been a Cub Scout den mother.

Surviving: Her husband; a son, Lloyd, Las Vegas, Neb.; granddaughter; and father and stepmother, Lloyd and Ruth Dawson, Keosauqua.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Keosauqua United Methodist Church, the Rev. Carl Kaltenreider, her pastor in Florida, and the Rev. Dennis Fox, pastor of Keosauqua United Methodist Church; Clay Grove Cemetery north of Donnellson. Eastern Star service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.
