NELLIE MARIE CROSS

Nellie Marie Cross, 86, of Fort Madison Nursing Care Center, Fort Madison, died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, October 5, 1984 at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

She was born September 12, 1898 in Harrisburg Township, Van Buren County, the daughter of George and Josephine Godown Alexander. She married Lual Cross October 3, 1914 in Keosauqua. He died June 2, 1960.

She lived in Fort Madison since 1924, was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was affiliated with the VFW and the American Legion auxiliaries.

Surviving: one son, Darrell, Fort Madison; one daughter, Joanne McKeever, Fort Madison; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, 1984 at Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Rev. James Bridges officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery Soldiers Circle. A memorial has been established.
