Hershel E. Morris

Hershel E. Morris, son of T.D. and Ella Brown Morris was born on Jan. 24, 1910, near Stockport and died on Friday, May 4, 1984, in Palatka, Fla., after an illness.

Herschel attended the Spencer grade school, and the Stockport High School, graduating with the class of 1929.

He worked on a cattle farm near Iowa City for some time, before moving to Clifton, MO., where he raised cattle.

In the early 1950's, he became the postmaster at Clifton, and continued in that position until his retirement.

He was married to Betty Lee Brayton and they have spent the last several years in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, a step-daughter, two grandchildren, one brother, Max Morris of Keosauqua, and four sisters, Mrs. Kayle Dodds (Verna), Mrs. Russell Keller of Fairfield (Esther), Mrs. Wayne Hendricks of Buffalo, Mo. (Buena), and Maxine Shogsta of Urbana, Mo.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Harold, and Chester, and a baby sister, Erma.

Services and burial were in Florida on Monday, May 7, 1984.
