Viola G. Gregory

Viola G. Gregory, 91, longtime resident of the Stockport community, died at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 1983, at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

She was born Feb. 21, 1892, in Stockport. She was the daughter of James and Viola Racer Beswick. Her marriage to Clyde Gregory took place Sept. 18, 1912, in Mount Pleasant. He died Dec. 17, 1938.

Survivors include two sons, Karl Gregory, Keosauqua, and LaVerne Gregory, Englewood, Colo.; two daughters, Mary Frances Kauffman, Turlock, California, and Grace Dille, Birmingham; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Stockport Christian Church, a Gold Star Mother of America, and a member of the Legion Auxiliary.

She graduated with a degree in music from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant and was a lifetime pianist for the Christian Church in Stockport.

Services were held on Monday, Oct. 17, at the Stockport Christian Church with Rev. Richard Devore officiating. Burial was at Winchester Cemetery.
