MARTIN EWING

Martin Ewing, son of William and Nancy Rupe Ewing, was born January 6, 1905 near Mount Zion and departed this life Thursday, April 14, 1983 at Bloomfield Manor Nursing Home in Bloomfield, at the age of 78.

On August 20, 1927 he married Florence Grade in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Florence Hervey, Keosauqua, Ruth Clark, Festus, Missouri, and Reva McRoy, Dexter, Missouri; two sons, William of Garden City, Kansas and Lee of Fairfield; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Emmit Bonaparte. An infant daughter, five sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.

Most of Mr. Ewing's life was spent in the Keosauqua area, where he farmed, worked for the Van Buren County Highway Department, and was custodian of the school. He was a member of the Brethren Church.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home In in Keosauqua with Rev. Louise Knupp officiating. Interment was in Forbes Cemetery north of Keosauqua.
