DEANE M. MEEK

Deane M. Meek, 60, of Bonaparte, died Friday afternoon, January 14, 1983, at University of Iowa Hospital.

Born May 27, 1922 in Bonaparte, he was the son of Kirk Marshall Meek and Alice Miller Meek.

He married Ilene Rice on May 25, 1946 in Bonaparte.

A life resident of Bonaparte, he was a retired lineman for the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company. He was of the Christian faith.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge 73 AF & AM of Bonaparte and the I.B.E.W. Union, American Legion Sargeant-Osweiler Post 563 at Bonaparte. He served in the Coast Guard from 1941 to 1946.

Surviving are his wife, and his mother, Alice Meek of Bonaparte; three sons, Marshall, Mark and Michael Meek, all of Bonaparte; three daughters-in-law, Connie, Ellen and Sherry Meek, all of Bonaparte; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

The funeral was held at the Hofbauer Funeral Home at Farmington on Monday, January 17 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Harden officiated. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. A memorial was established for the Heart Fund.
