Alva W. Anson, son of O.A. and Kate Simmons Anson, was born May 2, 1894, in Van Buren County and departed this life early Tuesday, April 20, 1982 at his home in Country Lane Apartments, Keosauqua, at the age of 87.

ON October 18, 1924, he married Hazel Marie Anderson in Des Moines. She died in 1977. A brother, Charlie, also preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Lange and her husband, Richard, of Longmont, Colorado and two granddaughters.

Alva operated the Sinclair Oil bulk plant in Keosauqua for many years. He was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church and a life member of Keosauqua Lodge No. 10, Ancient Fred and Accepted Masons, Lynds Chapter O.E.S., Keosauqua, the Ottumwa York Rite Masonic bodies, Davenport Consistory, and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple in Des Moines, as well as Fairfield Elks Lodge No. 1192.

He was veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and World War I Veterans, all at Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 22, 1982, at 11 a.m. in the Keosauqua United Methodist Church. Burial with Masonic rites, was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. Arrangements were made by Pedrick Funeral Home. A memorial was established.
